What You Need To Know ...
Developed through several seasons and races, our origins lie in a fateful night in 2007 late into our first 18hr event. We were and still are a team focused on finishing at our own speed (steady), so we took our title from Aesop's old fable the Tortoise and the Hare. The shortened Torti stems back to that late and long first race when we were sleep deprived and loopy. We thought it would be funny to pluralize tortoise the same way as fungus (fungi), and there you have it, Team Torti was born!
Now our 'steady' is much more speedy, but we continue to use humor as a team building and coping strategy. To quote some famous turtles of our time:
